The City of Port St Lucie is launching its Homebuyer Assistance Program in partnership with the Community Land Trust of Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast (CLT of PBCTC). The program will provide Moderate Income buyers who live and/or work in Port St Lucie with funding to purchase a home in Port St Lucie that will then be part of the CLT of PBCTC.

Four to six income qualified first-time homebuyers will be eligible to receive up to $100,000 in federal funds towards the purchase of their first home.  At closing, the ownership of the land and the improvements will be separated so that the home is placed in the CLT of PBCTC, ensuring the home is permanently affordable for future income qualified first-time homebuyers in Port St. Lucie.  If the buyer chooses a condominium, a deed restriction will be recorded in place of the land lease outlining the resale formula and associated restrictions.

The Port St Lucie application window for this round of funding is now closed.

Replay of the Informational Session

Key Program Components:

  • First-time homebuyers, once income certified by CLT of PBCTC and have loan qualification from a required partner bank finds their first home with help from a realtor.
  • A joint offer is submitted with the CLT of PBCTC as the co-buyer using the designated closing agent.
  • The CLT of PBCTC works with the title agent, realtor and lender towards closing.
  • Ownership of the land is separated at closing from the improvements in a simultaneous transaction.
  • Funding is limited, so assistance will be committed on a first come/first under contract basis, therefore an award letter does not constitute a guaranteed receipt of assistance funds and/or the maximum funding amount for purchase.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • First Time Homebuyer
  • Live and/or Work in the City of Port St. Lucie at time of application
  • Maximum Gross Household Income of 120% of Area Median Income, Adjusted for Household Size
